Because you so badly asked for it, Universal is in talks with comedian Kevin Hart and part-time rapper Ice Cube to return for Ride Along 2, the sequel to the surprise box office smash Ride Along. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is moving forward with the picture with both Hart and Cube expected to reprise their roles.
Universal is moving forward with its sequel to the Kevin Hart-Ice Cube comedy, which had a record-breaking opening weekend when it debuted over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Tim Story will return to direct, with Hart and Ice Cube nearing deals to reprise their roles as a security guard and an Atlanta cop, respectively.
The film has an abysmal 17 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it has raked in over $117 million since it’s release over Martin Luther King Jr weekend, something that has Universal very excited. While audiences were warmer to Ride Along than critics happened to be, those who loathe the idea of sequels will hate everything Ride Along represents.
