After the wild and stunning success of 300 back in 2006, Warner Bros has gone back to the well to produce and release a sequel that is hitting theaters next month. 300: Rise of an Empire is actually starting to look like a campy good time at the cinema, although it’s still too early to tell.
The film will be coming at us in a format that the original didn’t, as 300: Rise of the Empire is being released in IMAX and we saw a glimpse of the special IMAX poster this week.
In case you need a refresher, here a quick and brief the synopsis for 300: Rise of an Empire:
Greek general Themistokles leads the charge against invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
Hopes are not high for 300: Rise of the Empire, but then again it looks really cool from an aesthetic point of view and 2006 seems long enough ago to be nostalgic about. Hopefully it doesn’t suck but if it does, it’s going to do so not he largest screens known to man.
