The upcoming film Term Life just got a lot more interesting with the most recent casting announcement. The big screen adaptation of the popular graphic novel was already interesting thanks to the fact that Vince Vaughn had taken up the lead role, but he addition of the latest actor makes the cast a lot more tough — literally.
UFC fighter Cain Velasquez has joined the cast in what will be his first ever acting role.
This marks the first film or acting project for Velasquez, who will play Marco — the right hand man of Viktor (played by Jordi Molla), who is a ruthless gangster from Mexico who blames Vaughn’s character for the death of his only son.
This may get an eye roll from some of the more skeptical fans out there already rubbed the wrong way thanks to Vaughn being cast, but this is a trend we’re seeing that may not be all that bad. Unlike professional wrestlers who try to act, we’re seeing stars from the UFC like Velasquez and Ronda Rousey line themselves up to be the action stars of the future and that seems — at least from their performance in the ring — to not be that bad of thing.
Term Life hits theaters in 2015.
