Three upcoming Marvel films have a date set, after 20th Century Fox made a major announcement on Thursday. The announcement also included the release dates of two others films, as well as the moved dates of two films in the pipeline.
The second instalment of The Fantastic Four has been announced for 14 July, 2017, two years later than the first film of the reboot. The most recent reboot of the franchise received mixed reviews, and recent reports suggested the pending first film may be in trouble due to Fox undergoing a cast overhaul. This appears not to be the case now, and the Matthew Vaughn produced reboot has a sequel set. Another Matthew Vaughn project, The Secret Service, was moved to 24 October, 2014.
Four months prior to the premiere, Hugh Jackman will once again star as The Wolverine in the sequel to the successful 2013 film. The Wolverine 2 has been penciled in for 3 March, 2017, though little else has been revealed. A third unnamed upcoming Marvel project was also announced for the 13 July, 2018. Rumours have suggested that the date could be home to anything from a Spider-Man spin-off, to a sequel to the upcoming X-Men film.
Elsewhere, Taken 3 was confirmed for 9 January, 2015, while Frankenstein, starring Daniel Radcliffe, is now scheduled for a 2 October, 2015 release date, almost nine months later than the original penned date. A yet-to-be-confirmed Ridley Scott film was also confirmed for 4 March, 2016.
