Anna Kendrick has been around (that’s what she said). From starring on Broadway as a young girl, to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, the Twilight saga (sort of), that depressing George Clooney plane movie, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, ParaNorman, the “I can’t believe Joseph Gordon-Levitt has cancer” movie, and Drinking Buddies–there’s a good chance that from 6th-grade girl to coffee house movie critic, you’ve seen Anna Kendrick in a film.
Yet what really brought this tiny girl from Maine into our homes and our hearts–a film about an A cappella group of course. But truly, it was Cups.
Remember Cups? You loved Cups, don’t lie. The music video has over 120 million views on YouTube so I’d say more than a few grown men have seen it. And if anyone cries autotune, best take that back RIGHT NOW. Girl won a Tony and did this live and unadulterated (a cappella sounds too mainstream) on Letterman below.
And finally, Anna Kendrick will be joining the Saturday Night Live crew to awkward it up and make continuous references to Twilight, musicals and Glee clubs, and of course, being a beautiful woman who looks like a pre-teen.
So….hope I don’t get fired for the curse word on the site? #SorryNotSorry
Will this SNL episode get big-time ratings? Meh…. it shouldn’t touch Jimmy Fallon’s or Melissa McCarthy’s season high ratings but I can only imagine she will top the low low lowwwww number of viewers brought in by Louis C.K. and Lena Dunham (both of whom I enjoy, but far from big pulls). Going with somewhere well below Kerry Washington, but above Jim Parsons. Just because I loathe you Big Bang Theory.
Also, it can’t fail as the musical guest is ……………… Pharrell! He’s taking over the world, one big hat and big single at a time.
Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza on Twitter are simply the best.
Tune in to SNL this Saturday at 10 pm on NBC.
