This month’s Tribeca Film Festival features an eclectic mix of household names and newcomers to film and television; the trailer for the new film, Intramural, has a similarly unique cache of both on hand.
The film features 2nd year SNL vets Kate McKinnon and Jay Pharoah, and another SNL castmember and man of AT&T fame, Beck Bennett, all of which will certainly attract the attention of the NBC faithful. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that the film’s protagonist is played by Jake Lacy, best known for a stint he did with NBC’s The Office.
Lest we forget, Nikki Reed, co-star of Evan Rachel Wood 2003’s Thirteen, is also in the film. I was conveniently thirteen in 2003… it was a bit different.
Joined by other up and comers in the acting game, Intramural, the absurd tale of an incompetent collegiate intramural flag football team looks to be a potential cult favorite with fans of stoner sports satire like Wet Hot American Summer, Dodgeball, and Waterboy (so….everyone?)
Intramural debuts at the Tribeca on April 19.
We here at Flicksided love our movies and our sports and our ___________?
I’m a huge fan of many of the newest SNL castmembers, particularly Kate McKinnon. She’s done many of its best recent caricatures–Angela Merkel, Ellen DeGeneres, Justin Bieber, the girl is versatile, and Pharoah does some of the best impressions SNL has seen in years (sorry Shaq).
This is a film to keep an eye on.
