As we all know, George Lucas sold Lucasfilms, including the rights to the Star Wars franchise, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound, to the entertainment behemoth, Disney. Lucas is now a cool $4 billion richer. But are the rest of us?

    Actually, I’m just sorry there isn’t a polling option, “Disney go to hell.” George Lucas is reportedly hard-nosed and not easy to work with, but it was his vision and drive that made Star Wars. Without him, it’s just another bag of money for an entertainment company who will pillage it until there’s nothing left.

    This is literally the single stupidest thing I’ve seen on the internet in the past 3 months at least, and that’s saying something considering the abundance of stupidity on the internet in general. Asking if Star Wars is better off without Lucas is like asking if Lord of the Rings would have been better off without Tolkien. You can’t ask that kind of question, because the subject wouldn’t even exist without these men. Lucas created Star Wars, it’s his, end of story. Selling the rights to Disney doesn’t make it theirs, it merely means they get their turn to stain the work of a legend.
