EMMY AWARDS POLL: Does Breaking Bad Deserve To Double Dip?

It’s bad enough the Emmys only offer five slots in the Best Writing category when Series, Director, and all Acting categories have six – what’s up with the musical chairs approach, Television Academy? And what gives with Breaking Bad getting two Emmy nominations for Best Writing in a Drama Series? I don’t care if both episodes are the greatest in television history, it just doesn’t seem fair.

On the creative (as opposed to performing) side of things, each series should get to submit their strongest episode for Emmy consideration. You’re telling me there’s not one other episode of a dramatic series that deserves Emmy love? I highly doubt that.

I thought Walking Dead had some powerful episodes this season, in particular “The Grove”, with Carol, Tyrese, and the little girls. Scandal can be a bit overwrought but I was enthralled by “A Door Marked Exit”, which featured Emmy  winner Joe Morton at his teeth-gnashing best and Emmy nominee Kate Burton in a spellbinding performance. I haven’t seen  Downton Abbey or Boardwalk Empire this season but I’m pretty sure if they’re good enough to be nominated for Best Series and Director, they’ve probably got a well written episode in there, too.

Who do you think should have gotten the fifth Emmy nomination for Best Writing in a Drama? Or is Breaking Bad so nice, it deserves to be nominated twice?
