Death of a Unicorn (2025) is a thought-provoking take on a traditional fairy tale concept, introducing a surprising twist to a once-beloved creature. The story follows a girl and her father who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn. They then proceed to deal with the aftermath, which has unexpected consequences. The story unfolds as a mix of comedy and horror in this fresh new idea for a horror flick. It's both captivating and interesting, as well as terrifying during the right moments.

Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) is a heartful film that blends sci-fi and action with comedy, and a tad bit of mother-daughter bonding. The story follows Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh) who discovers the infinite possibilities of her life. This thrusts her into a multiverse where the real narrative unfolds. The film unravels generational trauma, finding out who you are, and love. Everything Everywhere All at Once is a profound masterpiece that everyone should take the time to see.

3. MOONLIGHT

Moonlight (2016) is a breathtaking and beautifully craand fted story about identity. The film follows a black man growing up in Miami as he struggles to understand himself in a world that feels like it's forcing him to hide who he really is. Barry Jenkin's direction on this film leads to stunning cinematography and a deeply emotional telling. This film is poet, heartful, and deserves its' spot on our list.

2. MIDSOMMAR

If you were to ask someone what their favorite A24 film was they would most likely say Midsommar (2019). The movie is a psyhological horror masterpiece and arguably one of A24s best films. Ari Aster masterfully explores grief, cults, and toxic relationships in this film. The eerie unsettling feeling is something I still carry with me after watching this delightful thriller.

1. LADY BIRD

I remember when I first saw Lady Bird (2017), the way my eyes stayed glued to the screen for the hour and thirty-five-minute run-time. Greta Gerwig is one of the greatest talents of our time and anything she makes usually feels like watching gold—it's one of those films. Lady Bird tells the story of a teenager with dreams of escaping living with her mother, in hopes of attending college on the East Coast. Lady Bird shows what it feels like to want to be free and how the transition from adolescence to adulthood can feel like the end of the world. It'll go down as a classic coming-of-age go-to for generations to come.
