We’ve reached the very end of Downton Abbey with the third and final movie The Grand Finale. Of course, we’ve heard it was the end before, but this time, it really is the end.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale gets us to the 1930s, and everything is changing for Lord Grantham and his family. We’re not going to spoil the movie in this post, though. Honestly, all Downton Abbey fans need to go and watch the movie in theaters without knowing what happens.
What you will want to know is whether it’s worth sticking around for the credits to roll, though. Maybe there’s a hint at a spinoff that could happen?

Yes, there is a mid-credit scene in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
It’s worth sticking around for the initial credits to roll. Despite this being the last movie in the franchise, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale has a mid-credit scene.
In fact, there are various scenes throughout the credits, and they are all worth sticking around for. Do they hint at a spinoff, though?
We’ll get into the spoilers for the end-credit scenes, but there are no major spoilers for the movie.

What happens in the post-credit scenes in the Downton Abbey movie?
The first clip is of Lord and Lady Grantham walking away from Downton Abbey. The focus of the movie was on what the two would do and whether they would move out of the home, and while this likely spoils the story a little, there is so much more to the decision and what it means for the future.
We also get clips of each of the members of Downton Abbey’s staff and family in their own homes with their own families. There’s a sense of closure with each of these clips, just giving us a look at where people are right now and that sense of hope for the future of each of them.
At the very end of the scenes credits, we stop on Mary Crawley with her children. There’s a sweet moment of her reading to them, and this is where there could be a hint of a Downton Abbey spinoff.
Could we pick up with the story in the 1940s or 1950s, as Mary’s children are all grown up? I’m sure there are plenty out there who would love to see that. After all, life goes on, even as change happens.
