Elio was one of those movies that received mixed reviews, but for the majority of children, it was a fun and magical experience. Now they want to watch it over and over again, and that means knowing when it’s going to come home.

While you’re waiting for it on Disney+, there are other ways to get it at home. It’s time to go back to the traditional methods of buying movies on DVD and Blu-ray, and you’ll be able to do that before the summer officially comes to an end.

Elio is coming to DVD and Blu-ray in September

I don’t care what anyone says about the beginning of September being the end of the summer. Labor Day does not mark the end. It’s all about the fall equinox, so yes, a few weeks in September is still summer. And Elio will come to DVD and Blu-ray by then.

Elio is getting a DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K release on Tuesday, Sept. 9. You get to choose depending on the quality of your DVD player, but the Blu-ray tends to be my favorite—good quality and cost-effective.

There are a bunch of bonus features that you won’t get in any other format, such as:

  • Inside the Communiverse: The World and Characters of Elio featurette
  • Out of This World: An Astro Q&A featurette
  • Astronomic Art Class: Ooooo and Glordon featurette
  • Extraterrestrial Eaaster Eggs and Fun Facts featurette
  • Galactic Gag Reel
  • Deleted Scenes: Bike Chase, Garden Party, Carver Legend, Questa’s Second Test, Home Visit

If you do get the 4K edition, you’ll get a collectable limited edition SteelBook, which includes some beautiful artwork and packaging.

Get Elio on Digital instead

I do always think it’s worth having a DVD player, because of how unreliable streaming services are. However, if you don’t have a DVD player, there is a way to buy Elio once and watch it over and over again. It’s all about the Digital release, and that’s coming on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

Just keep in mind you get a license and not the physical copy. Also, the bonus features aren’t usually included.

We’re still waiting on a Disney+ release date. This is usually a month or so after the DVD release date, so it could be worth it for you. Just keep a look out for the most cost-effective way for our children to watch the magic of space with Elio over and over again.

Elio is coming to Digital on Tuesday, Aug. 19 and to DVD on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
