The short answer is no, although it's easy to see why general audiences might be confused. Both vengeful protagonists are played by Jason Statham, possess a gruff attitude, are beating henchmen senseless in the teaser trailer, and are weirdly dressed the same. Oddly enough, A Working Man isn't related to last year's The Beekeeper, which was set around a former black ops mercenary that went by the codename of "Beekeeper" and unironically set up a honey farm in retirement. Despite all the similarities between them, they're different.
What About The Beekeeper 2
As for Jason Statham's other flick, The Beekeeper, it will continue in a future installment. Amazon hasn't officially greenlit the second chapter, but reports from several reputable outlets claim production is set to begin soon. Principal photography is actually supposed to be underway at the moment. Unfortunately, Los Angeles is in a state of emergency.
The Beekeeper 2 was going to begin shooting in LA, but with the fires raging across the Southern California area, it's almost certainly delayed for the time being. Keep in mind that productions can always relocate. Plenty of studios offer the same amenities Amazon would need to shoot The Beekeeper sequel. Perhaps the production will return to the United Kingdom, where the first movie was shot. That would be the best alternative since Los Angeles is literally on fire.
Whether it happens now or later, the movie's subject matter warrants exploring. First, the plot doesn't have a clear direction after Statham's Beekeeper settles the score. He killed the people responsible for hurting his hive, making things right. Perhaps a reckoning lands on his doorstep this time around. It is apropos that a family member comes looking for revenge after the Beekeeper killed so many henchmen in the first installment. They were nobodies back then, but sometimes, nobodies have somebodies for brothers and sisters.
In that case, The Beekeeper 2 might be about Statham's character on the run. He didn't appear intimidated by several corporations with their own security details, so it would have to be an intimidating force for Clay to feel backed into a corner. Perhaps the Bee Hive comes calling for the drone that got away. Covert organizations in media typically don't allow their pawns to run amuck, and after Clay's actions, he's certainly a liability.
On the other hand, maybe Adam Clay (Statham) encounters another phishing firm and does the same thing he did in the first film. There's no shortage of scam networks across the globe, meaning Clay would have plenty to work with. Movies about hucksters getting their comeuppances always pique audience interest, too, so it's the best option for now.
The Beekeeper is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
