Demons in the movie arent’t the scary type that you might see in an adult horror movie, but rather cartoon people with stripes on their bodies, representing something wrong they’ve done. These ‘demons’ are stuck in an eternal purgatory as they attempt to infiltrate the real word.
As they inch closer to victory in turning the rest of the world into demons, they must face the strength and determination of the KPop group, the Huntrix. If you know the songs, you know how the story ends!
K-Pop Demon Hunters achieved unprecedented fame
Netflix also reports that K-Pop Demon Hunters is the streaming app’s most-watched animated film. The post shares that theaters worldwide were sold out during the movie’s first theatre premiere the week of August 23rd. The first premier was dedicated to a sing-along, and the next premier will focus on a “Halloween-themed sing-along”, according to Variety.
With songs on the Billboard Hot 100, parents are going to have a fun time in the theaters, celebrating the upbeat music and powerful themes in the movie. K-Pop Demon Hunters drives home the importance of positive self-talk and the power of friendship.
My kids have watched the movie nearly 100 times, and being able to see it on the big screen would probably make it feel like a giant concert—did I mention the vocals are amazing?! Sounds like the ‘treat’ in ‘trick-or-treat’!
When will K Pop Demon Hunters start showing in theaters?
According to Variety, K-Pop Demon Hunters will show from Friday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 2, and fans will be able to watch at AMC, Regal, and Cinemark. Get your tickets before they sell out!
If you haven’t watched, don’t be alarmed by the title and what it implies. The animations are far less intimidating than what one might assume for a movie with demons in the plot. It’s kind of like a Marvel movie for younger kids—good versus evil, where good prevails.
Will there be a sequel to K-Pop Demon Hunters?
Fans asked for a sequel shortly after the movie first premiered on Netflix. While a sequel was not planned originally, Variety reports that Sony and Netflix are now planning to make that happen for fans.
The sequel could potentially focus on the other members of the Huntrix, Zoey and Mira, according to writer, Maggie Kang. While talks are still in the early stages, the potential for success of a sequel is pretty obvious. I'd even be interested to get more backstory on Jinu, the villain turned hero.
