Yes, Lilo & Stitch will head to Disney+, and there isn’t too long left to wait. In fact, we only have to wait less than a month, so get the popcorn ready, because the kids are going to want to watch it right away!
Lilo & Stitch Disney+ release date
The 2025 live-action remake is heading to Disney+ on Wednesday, Sept. 3. It’s a great midweek treat, but I do wish it was dropping just a little bit earlier. This could have been a great long-weekend treat for the families, but at least that’s something to watch the following weekend.
This is the global release date. Thankfully, other parts of the world don’t need to wait longer to gather the ‘ohana together to check it out.
If you are looking for something to watch over the long weekend, you can always turn to the animated classic that started the love for Stitch. The animated Lilo & Stitch is already available, and it’s a great way to see what’s changed and what’s not!
It's around the time that we expected the release to be. Most people considered late August or early September as the release date based on when other movies have gone to streaming.

The live-action Lilo & Stitch broke records in 2025
There are often times that we wonder if a remake is needed. Then there are other remakes that are hit with controversy, which affects the box office numbers. Well, Lilo & Stitch was one we were all waiting for, and it shows in the global box office numbers. It was the first Motion Picture Association title of2025 to cross the $1 billion mark worldwide.
On top of that, it broken records during its Memorial Day weekend debut in the United States, making $183 million. It quickly became the top-grossing MPA release internationally, and I stand by the statement that there was a long enough wait to bring us the live-action and the casting was just perfectly considered for the story.

Lilo & Stitch also has a story that is focused on family, even on “found family.” Lilo heads off on an adventure that honors Hawai’i’s culture and beauty, while she forms a bond with the alien Stitch, who isn’t necessarily the type of creature most people would want to be friends with. There’s a story of love and compassion, which is captured by different generations, making this a true family-friendly event.
