When it came to live-action reboots we didn’t think we needed, How to Train Your Dragon was certainly on the list. The 2025 reboot certainly brought the animated version to life in style, but it also added a little more to the original story.
Now it’s time to relive the magic. Well, it’s almost time. How to Train Your Dragon is coming to streaming in time for Halloween, the perfect time to watch a movie all about dragons!
How to Train Your Dragon streaming release date
As expected, How to Train Your Dragon is coming to Peacock as its first streaming home. This is a Universal movie, and Universal and Peacock are owned by the same overhead company. It makes sense now with so many streaming platforms for companies to favor their own.
There isn’t long left to wait. The 2025 live-action reboot will head to Peacock on Friday, Oct. 10. This is more than enough time to plan to watch it with the family in time for Halloween. It’s a Friday night, so why not make it the night of the release?
It’s not just the movie joining Peacock either. You’ll get the chance to stream many of the bonus features on the DVD release, including the deleted scenes and the gag reel. There’s nothing better than these deleted scenes to delve into the world of the movie.
There are also all of the featurettes from the DVD to work your way through. One of my favorites has to be the Dreaming Up the Dragons, which gives us a look inside the technology and artistry to create the life-like dragons to the big screen.

It’s not alone. All three How to Train Your Dragon movies are joining Peacock on the same day. You can relive the entire franchise at a pace that suits you and your family. Explore the continuation of the story, which will hopefully all be adapted in live-action, because this release has been worth it!
