A new week is here, and it can be hard to find something to watch at times. You know you’re waiting until the weekend for the next theatrical releases, so you’re scrolling through the streamers to find new (to you) movies to check out.

The good news is the streamers have some great picks this week. It doesn’t matter if you have Netflix, Hulu, or one of the other big options. There is something to check out!

Of course, the lists end up a little overwhelming. We’ve got you covered in finding the big moves on Netflix and beyond that are worth watching between Sept. 8 and Sept. 14.

Bombshell

Let’s start with a movie on Netflix that’s based on real events. It focuses on the campaign that started the #MeToo movement, with Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie, and Nicole Kidman in some key roles. This is the story of how Roger Ailes was brought down.

Now yes, there are some fictionalized elements to the tale. Robbie’s character is an amalgamation of a few women to help condense the events for the movie, but that doesn’t take away from the outstanding performances. If you want a reminder of how #MeToo got started, Bombshell is the release to watch.

Bombshell is available on Netflix on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The Wrong Paris

Are you more in the mood for a rom-com? Netflix has you covered with The Wrong Paris, which stars Miranda Cosgrove and Pierson Fode. It is your standard rom-com, with a woman’s dream trip being interrupted by going to the wrong Paris. While she wants to go to Paris, France, she ends up in Paris, Texas.

Yeah, that’s a common mistake…not! Anyway, it leads her on an adventure that could lead to her finding love. Sometimes, it’s not all about the destination, but what you make of it when you get there.

The Wrong Paris is on Netflix on Friday, Sept. 12.

Novocaine

Did you happen to miss Novocaine when it was out in theaters? In some good news, you can watch it on streaming this week instead. Jack Quaid continues to take on the hilarious action roles, making it clear that he’s found a niche.

Quaid plays Nathan Caine, who takes action when he sees his dream girl, Sherry, taken hostage by violent robbers. He may just be a credit union worker, but he has a special skill: the inability to feel pain. So, he uses that to his advantage to take down the criminals in the hope of a happily ever after.

Novocaine is available to stream on Prime Video on Friday, Sept. 12.

Dead Poets Society

If you haven’t seen Dead Poets Society yet, stop what you are doing. This is a must-watch movie on Hulu this week! Starring Robin Williams, Ethan Hawke, and Josh Charles, the movie follows Maverick teacher John Keating, as he decides that the youth need to be taught in a very different way. It’s a movie that shows that it’s not the education system or the topics that make or break a class; it’s the teacher.

Dead Poets Society focuses on challenging the status quo. Keating wants the students to reject social norms, and that allows them to go through transformations that can set them up for the future. Of course, not all the parents agree with this, leading to the iconic “Captain, my Captain” scene that I know you’ve seen!

Dead Poets Society is on Hulu on Friday, Sept. 12.

Lost in the Jungle

Are you looking for something for the whole family? You’ll want to turn to Disney+, with a National Geographic documentary. Yes, it’s a documentary, so while there are some reenactments, the story is focused on the real events.

It follows the deadly plane crash in the Colombian rainforest, where four young siblings had to survive the wilderness for 40 days. The children get to tell their story, showing everything they went through to stay alive as rescuers worked hard to find them.

Lost in the Jungle is available to stream on Disney+ on Saturday, Sept. 13.
