Regardless of the day and age, magicians never lose their touch. Even movies about magicians have an equal impact on the audience. And such a statement explains why the Now You See Me franchise is continually growing.

After the surprise announcement of not only one but two chapters in the franchise in development, Lionsgate Entertainment released the trailer for Now You See Me, Now You Don't. The third chapter in the series of films reunites the original stars with a new generation of actors. Keep in mind that one significant change is happening.

Lizzy Caplan is stepping away from the franchise while Isla Fisher returns. Fisher passed on the sequel but will make a grand return in the coming installment. The teaser trailer confirms it, along with the band getting back together, too.

The trailer informs audiences that the Horsemen team has expanded to become an eight-magician party. Joining the existing team—Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), Jack Wilder (Dave Franco), and Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) are three new additions—June (Ariana Greenblatt), Charlie (Justice Smith), and Bosco (Dominic Sessa). Character descriptions for the newcomers are still out, though.

Trailer Highlights

Interestingly enough, the preview for Now You See Me, Now You Don't features a montage of shots from the movie teasing the upcoming action. One such sequence calls back to the first film.

In a brief glimpse, the crew is shown falling out of a giant water tank—a common prop used by magicians in their acts. What is astonishing is that the directors managed to convince Isla Fisher to get back in another one. Not only that, but her co-stars jumped in alongside her for the risky stunt. Fisher's participation is remarkable because her first attempt at a similar stunt didn't go over so well.

In the first Now You See Me movie, the director had Fisher dropped into a smaller yet sizable water tank to introduce the character to audiences. While the performance portion went off without a hitch, the part where Henley (Fisher) struggles to escape actually happened.

While performing the underwater escape trick, a safety mechanism failed to unlatch, leaving Fisher trapped in the tank for nearly three minutes. Fisher has since tried to make light of the situation, shrugging it off, but the experience would be harrowing for anyone. Even with safety protocols in place to signal the crew on standby, Fisher still couldn't call for help. Fortunately, a stuntman noticed the actress actually drowning and triggered a quick-release switch.

Noticeable Absence

One character, however, is noticeably absent from the action this time around: Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo). The Marvel alum starred in both installments, playing an crucial role in the plot against Arthur Tressler (Michael Caine). An explanation is still unclear, but whatever the reason, it appears Thaddeus Bradley has temporarily taken over as the Horsemen's leader.

What's interesting is where Rhodes may have gone. Perhaps he's joined a sect of The Eye that requires he drop off the radar, which would conveniently explain his absence while also leaving the door open for his inevitable return in the fourth installment. A fourth chapter in the Now You See Me franchise is currently in development, too.

Now You See Me, Now You Don't opens in theaters on November 14, 2025.
