6 sci-fi movies to watch like Alien: Romulus

Movie theaters were created to enjoy movies such as Alien: Romulus. Predator (1987)

The Predator movies are a must-watch if you love the Alien franchise. Even both world collide in a few movies, creating some iconic and epic adventures. But let’s start you off with the original, 1987’s Predator. The movie is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers. Predator follows Dutch Schaefer (Schwarzenegger), the leader of an elite military rescue team tasked with retrieving hostages in a Central American rainforest and bring them to safety. What they come across in the rainforest is beyond what they could have imagined, a group of extraterrestrial who are highly skilled hunters and humans are their prey. 

There are a total of eight movies in the Predator franchise, which includes two crossover movies, Alien vs. Predator and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. 

Terminator (1984)

We should have just labeled this list: Movies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger! Terminator is another fun sci-fi franchise that features the action star, but this time, he is a cybernetic assassin from the future. Cyborgs have taken over the world, but a man named John Connor has the answer to saving mankind from extinction. To prevent this from happening, a Terminator is sent to kill Connor’s mom before he is born. 

The actor may be the villain in the first chapter, but in all of the movies after, Schwarzenneger is the hero. Stream the movie on AMC+ or Prime Video. If you love it, there are a total of six movies in the series. 

Underwater (2020) 

Another fun sci-fi with a splash of horror is 2020’s Underwater, starring Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel, Jessica Henwick, John Gallagher Jr., and TJ Miller. The movie follows a group of engineers who are tasked to work at a drilling facility deep in the ocean. The crew soon learns that there are dangerous, and highly intelligent creatures lurking in the dark waters around them. Underwater is sure to play with some real fears such as claustrophobia, stream it on Hulu. This is also a great movie to watch if you don't have time (or don't want) to get into a franchise.
