Disney has not had the smoothest couple of years. 2023 was characterized by massive flops that failed to connect with audiences or critics. In response, the studio that once ran the entertainment world is going back to the drawing board. And by that, we mean sequels.

The studio has confirmed that its already working on sequels two of its most beloved animated franchises: Frozen and The Incredibles. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Frozen 3 will release sometime in 2027, but director Jennifer Lee provided additional context during a recent Fandango interview.

Frozen 3 and 4 will be filmed at the same time

Not only will Frozen 3 be coming to theaters, but Disney is already hard at work on the next film in the series. “We are working on Frozen 4 at the same time," Lee told the outlet. "We’re working in a room where this half is Frozen 3 this half is Frozen 4. we’re standing in the middle going back and forth."

It may seem like a lot, but Disney employed a similar, simultaneous production schedule for both the Pirates of the Caribbean films and the Avengers films. Both franchises made bank in the process.

"We are not even fully scripted yet," Jennifer Lee added. "We’re in early scripting, so it’s too soon to know where the musical language will go. The lack of a specific narrative direction is something that Frozen has in common with the upcoming Incredibles sequel.

Incredibles 3 is still being written by Brad Bird

Pixar chief Pete Docter told Fandango that the pieces are coming together for Incredibles 3, but the story has yet to be completely ironed out. "It's still pretty malleable in terms of what the story will be about," he told the host.

That being said, Docter confirmed that Brad Bird, the director of the first two films, will be returning to helm the new installment. "Brad is an amazing collaborator," Docter explained. "He's so fiery and passionate. Docter observed. "He's a guy who needs a little more time to build up the steam to get the passion and the power going."

No word yet on when Incredibles 3 will hit theaters, but we will definitely be there to see it.
