We never thought we'd see the day. The Ocean's trilogy is a time capsule of the 2000s, and the last generation of truly foundation movie stars. The heist comedies were immaculately directed by one Steven Soderbergh, but part of what made them work was the draw of seeing George Clooney, Brad Pitt and countless others being charming onscreen.

There have been attempts to reboot the Ocean's franchise, most notably with Ocean's 8, but the notion of getting the original band back together seemed far fetched. Until now. Deadline has now confirmed that Ocean's 14 is in the works, and both Clooney and Pitt are slated to return as Danny Ocean and Rusty.

Steven Soderbergh will not return to direct the sequel

George Clooney alluded to a screenplay already been written during the press tour for his last directorial effort, The Boys In the Boat, and likened the film to the cult 1979 release Going In Style. For reference, Going In Style is about a trio of senior citizens who decide to pull a bank job in New York City.

Steven Soderbergh, the man behind the original trilogy, will not be returning, and Edward Berger, the man who directed the Oscar-nominated remake of All Quiet on the Western Front, is set to take over as director. The rest of the ensemble cast has not been confirmed, but Deadline speculates that the likes of Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and the rest of the surviving cast members will return.

Clooney and Pitt have become more of a package deal than ever in recent months. The two actors are set to share the screen in the comedy thriller Wolfs, and have already confirmed that they will be coming back for a sequel. Now, they are bringing back the most famous franchise of both of their respective careers.

We're curious to see how the nearly two decade gap, coupled with the vision of a new director, will change the look and feel of the Ocean's franchise.
