Josh Gad reveals biggest regret from starring in Disney's Frozen series

The actor is forever linked to the franchise's snowman.

Josh Gad has had a spectacular career. The actor has been nominated for a Tony Award and won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater album for his involvement in The Book of Mormon. For movie fans, though, Gad will always be remembered as Olaf, the friendly snowman in the Frozen series.

Gad's comedic timing helped make the character one of the most beloved Disney creations of the 21st century. It's the gift that keeps giving, especially since more Frozen sequels have been put into production, but Gad recently admitted that he has one regret when it comes to his career-defining part.

The actor spoke about Olaf during a recent interview at Fan Expo Canada. He admitted that he made a big mistake when he was cast as the snowman, and that if he could it over again, he would change one thing: his voice.

Josh Gad used his normal speaking voice while playing Olaf in the first Frozen film, and since then, the actor feels as though it's been hard for fans to separate him from the character:

"I would not have lent that snowman my voice. I would’ve created a different voice... That was my first big mistake."

The actor will return for upcoming Frozen sequels

Gad went on to cite numerous occasions when he's out and speaking with people, only to have kids recognize his voice and approach him. He enjoys the love he gets from fans, but wishes, looking back that he would have made a vocal choice that was less tied in with the way he sounded.

Despite Gad's regret, he does appreciate the fame and exposure that the Frozen series has afforded him over the years. added. "People tell me I have a very unique voice," he explained. "People seem to like my voice, so I try to give it to them when I can."

Gad will reprise the character of Olaf in the upcoming films Frozen 3 and Frozen 4. Before then, however, he will appear in the drama A Tree Falls In the Woods and the comedy drama Adulthood opposite Kaya Scodelario.
