Leonardo DiCaprio's upcoming film project is not at all what you expect
Leonardo DiCaprio is a movie star in a time period when true stardom is hard to come by. His name comes with a level of prestige and quality that few actors can rival, and part of the reason why is that he has used it sparingly.
DiCaprio chooses his projects carefully. His last film, Killers of the Flower Moon, which he acted in and produced, was nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture. It was the sort of sprawling drama fans have come to expect from the icon. His next film, however, is a bit of a curveball.
DiCaprio will executive produce a new survival drama
DiCaprio will serve as an executive producer on the film Howl. Deadline reports that the film will focus on the relationship between a dog and a wolf as they rely on each other for survival. The film will have some human actors scattered throughout, but for the most part, this live-action drama will be about the aforementioned animals.
Leonardo DiCaprio will executive produce the film alongside environmental activist Jane Goodall. It will be the first official release from Promethean Pictures, which is a production studio created by Argo Films’ Richard Johns and E. Elias Merhige. The latter will serve as Howl's director.
DiCaprio has not spoken about the film at length, but his producing partner, Goodall shed light on what viewers can expect during a recent Deadline chat.

She emphasized how impressive the two animals are, and the wonders that the trainers have done in getting them prepared:
"The film is with real animals and, of course, a thing that absolutely fascinates me is the training of the wolves and this wonderful man who only rewards encouragement."
Goodall also shed light on her working relationship with DiCaprio, and the role the actor is playing in Howl's production. "He’s been involved with making a number of films that have had a big impact," she explained. "And he’s always talked about those with me."
Some of these films include the documentaries The Ivory Game (2016) and Fin (2021), both of which focus on impending extinction of different animal groups. DiCaprio's next live-action appearance will be in The Battle of Baktan Cross, a dramedy directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
