M. Night Shyamalan keeps us coming back. The director has had a rocky second act to his career, due to some truly abysmal releases, but he's also struck gold a few times in recent years. Trap looked to be an instance of the latter. The premise was brilliant, and the casting of Josh Hartnett as a dorky dad who moonlights as a serial killer was inspired.

The film performed so-so at the box office, grossing $72 million on a $30 million budget, suggesting that a lot of people who were taken in by the trailer didn't end up making the trek to theaters to see it. Given Shyamalan's spotty track record, it's hard to criticize. That being said, those who were taken in by the premise and want to check it out at home can now do so.

Trap is now available to rent on Prime

Trap is now available to stream on Amazon Prime and Apple TV. The film is available to rent for $19.99 and purchase for $24.99. This has become standard operating procedure for films that have been in theaters for more than a month. They're still available to watch on a big screen, but those who prefer to do their watching from the comfort of their couch can do so simultaneously.

If you're someone who doesn't want to shell out $20 for a rental, then the wait for Trap will go on for a bit longer. The thriller will not be available as part of a streaming service package until it's been taken out of theaters. As such, fans will likely have to wait until September or October to see it for "free."

The film will eventually stream on Max

When Trap does eventually make its way to a streamer, said streamer will be Max. Trap was released through Warner Bros, and whenever you see that WB logo at the beginning of a film, you can be sure it will be make its way to its affiliate platform.

Incredibly, M. Night Shyamalan is already working on his next film. He told Collider that it will mark a departure from his usual thrillers, a "cool flip" on a genre that he's not typically associated with. "I'm very excited about that," he teased. "I haven't done this particular subject matter, and I've always been interested in it.
