Charli XCX has been around for over a decade. She scored her first solo hit in 2014, but 2024 has been a career breakthrough. The singer has dominated pop culture with her Brat album, and all the memes that have accompanied it.

Despite, or perhaps because of, this enormous success, Charli XCX is looking to make a pivot. She wants to challenge herself creatively, and has decided to try her hand at filmmaking. She has signed on to appear in a number of different projects over the next few years, and we thought it'd be nice and convenient if we compiled them into a list. Not very Brat, but helpful nonetheless.

Faces of Death is a beloved 1978 horror film. As with most horror films, though, it will be getting the remake treatment in the modern day. And thankfully, the people involved with the new Faces of Death are wildly talented.

Daniel Goldhaber, the man who made the acclaimed environmental thriller How to Blow Up a Pipeline (2022), will take over for original director John Alan Schwartz. The cast meanwhile, will feature Barbie Ferrera, Dacre Montgomery, and making her big screen debut, Charli XCX. There haven't been details on who Charli will play, but based on the original, her character will likely meet a grim end.

Charli XCX has talked about her love for cinema at length, and her appreciation for 90s releases by auteurs like Todd Haynes and Gregg Araki, in particular. It should come as no surprise, then, that the pop star has linked up Araki for the upcoming thriller I Want Your Sex.

Deadline did not reveal the details of Charli XCX's character, but premise of I Want Your Sex will focus on the relationship between a young artist (Cooper Hoffman) and the older woman (Olivia Wilde) who becomes his muse. The film begins production in October.

Not official, but something Charli XCX did tease during her recent Billboard profile. The pop star told the outlet that she's working on a screenplay during a multi-week stay in Poland. She started to talk about the premise, but then caught herself and withheld details.

"Well, I don’t really know if I should say because I also don’t know if we’re going to do it," she noted. "We might actually just go to Poland and not do that, but that is the idea." Hopefully the script turns into something! With Charli XCX moving so aggressively into film, the chances are good.
