Did you wear your florals and go see Blake Lively’’s It Ends with Us on opening weekend? Okay, no jokes. If you did not watch the romantic drama on the big screen because you’d rather check the movie out from the comfort of your own home, here’s when (and where) you can do just that!
Based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover, It Ends with Us stars Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, and Hasan Minhaj. The story follows Lily Bloom (Lively), a young woman in Boston who opens a flower shop, fulfilling her lifelong dream. This victory is special because it has not always been easy for Lily due to a traumatic childhood she has put behind her. Unfortunately, heartache finds Lily again after she meets Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni). The two begin to fall in love, but Ryle starts to display behaviors that remind Lily of the life she is trying to forget.
At Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a 57% Rotten score from critics, but a 92% from audiences, so there’s a significant difference there. I don’t know about you, but I have always preferred the opinions of fellow moviegoers over critics. Still, I’ll admit I have not yet gone to see the movie in theaters. To be honest, it simply is not my go-to genre, for starters. But like most people, the Blake Lively interviews (YES, those interviews) have made me lose interest. Not to mention, the movie is over two hours long, so longer than I care to sit through a movie that, again, isn’t my favorite genre. And with the movie ticket prices these days? No, thanks! Instead, I’ll patiently wait for the streaming release.
It Ends with Us will (more than likely) stream on Netflix late 2024
It Ends with Us comes to us from Columbia Pictures and is distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, and movies handled by these studios go to Netflix after their theatrical release. Netflix is the streaming home for Sony pictures after a multi-year agreement between the two. Now, we don’t have an exact date for when the romantic drama will arrive on Netflix, but it should be available to stream by the end of 2024 since Sony movies typically land on Netflix 120 days after its debut. If It Ends with Us follows this same guide, the movie will stream on Netflix end of December 2024. Of course, as soon as we learn more we will update this post!
It Ends with Us is playing in theaters and is rated PG-13 for some strong language, sexual content, and domestic violence.
