There are some movies that just put you in a good mood. Whether it be the warm glow of a sunset or spending time with your goofy friends, people can spend the whole year waiting for summertime, but these films bottled up that feeling and put it in a movie. Grab your tastiest tropical beverage and snack, and get ready to sink into relaxation with these summer favorites!

1. Mamma Mia! (2008)

Starting off strong with one of the most influential musicals of the 2000s, Mamma Mia! holds a special place in the hearts of many. It's a wonderful revisit to some of our favorite actresses, including Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep. The coastal setting brings its viewers one step closer to those happy days by the water.

3. My Old Ass (2024)

The perfect blend of humor and sentiment. Over her last summer break before heading off to college, Elliot (Maisy Stella) comes face-to-face with her 39-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza), who gives her a vague forewarning from the future. Elliot must then try to decipher what happened while simultaneously attempting to avoid making the mistake her future self regrets.

5. Call Me By Your Name (2017)

Speaking of Italy, summer doesn't get better than this. Call Me By Your Name throws viewers into a serene world that emphasizes the significance of the small things, like basking in the sun or playing the piano. Though Lombardy is a fictional place, the movie was filmed in Crema, Italy, and its stunning scenery truly brings the tone of the film to life. This cinematic masterpiece is sure to evoke the essence of summer.
