Swiped doesn't have an end-credit scene (but does include something important)

We now routinely stick around for the end of the credits to see if there’s a post-credit scene. Wouldn’t it be great to just know if you have to stick around or not? Swiped is the latest movie to hit streaming, and this is one worth sticking around, but not for the main reason you would think.

The movie itself tells the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, a co-founder of Tinder and the founder of Bumble. This is not something that is easy to sit through, especially as a woman, but it’s a necessary story. However, it is important to note that Wolfe Herd did not have any involvement in the movie.

In fact, this brings us to the post-credit scenes. After all, there isn’t a scene, but there is an important inclusion.

Swiped notes about Whitney Wolfe Herd’s NDA

During the movie, there was a strong note about the NDA that Whitney Wolfe Herd had to sign when it came to the settlement with Tinder. Her lawyer even pointed out that if people kept writing about things, it could lead to trouble for Wolfe Herd, as people could claim that she broke her NDA.

This is where the post-credit “scenes” are important. They’re messages about what happened after Bumble BFF was launched, with an important note about the NDA.

Swiped makes it clear that Wolfe Herd had no involvement in the creation of the movie. She has remained focused on the growth of Bumble, and she has never broken the terms of her NDA. This part of the post-credits is there to protect her and the movie from action from her.

There’s no need to fast-forward through any credits to see any of this, though. It all takes place before the credits start to run.

Swiped is uncomfortable but important

As a woman, there is no doubt that Swiped is uncomfortable viewing. Many of us have been on the receiving end of unsolicited messages and threats.

It all starts with the women on Tinder reporting that the men would send hateful or unsolicited messages and pictures. They would report it all to Tinder, but nobody would do anything about it. When Wolfe Herd created Bumble, this came up, and she made sure everyone was aware that she wouldn’t stand for it.

At the same time, we get to see the harassing messages that were sent to her after she broke up with one of the co-founders. He turned hateful as many men who are rejected do, and it led to her being trapped in a hostile workplace. When she tried to make it better for her and other women there, she was manipulated into giving in her resignation.

Then there were the death threats and hateful messages on Twitter and other social media platforms. Women who speak up against “social norms” or against harassment are often sent these types of messages, and it was hard not to feel for Wolfe Herd as she dealt with all that. It’s no wonder she didn’t really want the movie to be made.

Swiped is available to stream on Hulu.
