The sequel for The Bad Guys is finally here, and you know the kids are begging to see it. Of course, it’s normal to hold back at first, as you want to make sure it’s suitable for the whole family. The great news is The Bad Guys 2 is perfect.
This animated movie is aimed at the whole family. We pick up off the back of the first one, learning that our group of surprising heroes have turned good but are now struggling. Naturally, nobody wants to work with them, and when they are framed for heists, it’s only natural that people turned even more against them.
However, they decide it’s time to prove that they are good. They have a heart, and they want to save the planet. The question is whether they can do it against The Bad Girls.
The Bad Guys 2 age rating: Explaining the PG rating
The Bad Guys 2 has officially been rated PG, which means that the Motion Pictures Association believes that those seven and over are going to find the movie entertaining. There’s nothing that’s a huge concern for younger members of the family to watch, but it is worth watching with them, as there are a few violent and somewhat scary moments.
Sex & nudity: There is no sex or nudity throughout the movie, but it is worth noting there’s a relationship that happens. We get to see how Mr. Snake meets a love interest, and there is a rather intriguing way of kissing between these two characters. It’s nothing gratuitous, but you know the writers and animators had a lot of fun with that one particular scene.
Language: There are a few moments that are going to stand out to adults, but the younger kids won’t understand the joke. There’s a scene when Mr. Snake uses his tail to say “F-You” to characters, but it’s a tail, so you need to understand the concept to get it.
The word J*****s is used a lot throughout The Bad Guys 2, but that’s the worst of the swear words. Most other terms are thrown in through action, but you need to understand the meaning behind it, adding comedy for the adults as well as the children.
Violence & gore: If you’ve seen The Bad Guys, you know the type of action to expect. This is very much like a comic book, and you know your kids have read all 20 of them now. There are high-speed car chases, and there are the odd fight scenes. In fact, Diane helps Mr. Wolf train, and when she knocks him out, he ends up with a black eye.
Diane also has an epic fight scene against The Bad Girls, which shows how skilled she is. There’s nothing overly scary, as it’s all in the fun of the story, and even younger members of the family are going to enjoy this and root for The Bad Guys.
Alcohol & drugs: There is some drinking at a wedding, but nothing overly noticeable. One thing to point out is that some of the characters do get drugged with tranquilizers to help subdue them.

Overall verdict: Who is The Bad Guys 2 appropriate for?
If your kids loved The Bad Guys, then they will want to watch the sequel, and you can feel safe taking them to the movie theaters right now to see it. This is made for the entire family, bringing in some storylines from the graphic novels, while creating a storyline that appeals to all.
There are some fight scenes that can be a little scary for the youngest members of the family, but it’s nothing over the top or worrisome. At the end of the day, the “good guys” will always find a way to win.
The Bad Guys 2 is now out in theaters.
