Spider-Man: No Way Home marked, for many, the end of an era for the MCU. It's one of the films that gets mentioned when discussing the franchise's peak, and it provided arguably more fan service than any MCU release before it.
No Way Home was a massive success at the box office, so there was always going to be a push to get a fourth film made. Tom Holland and Zendaya are still contracted to return, and Spidey remains one of the few reliable brands within the larger Marvel universe. The wait has been long, but Holland recently revealed that a screenplay for Spider-Man 4 is nearing completion. And it may just include a hero that we've been waiting years to see depicted in live-action.
Tom Holland hyped up the Spider-Man 4 script
Holland talked Spider-Man 4 during an interview with Rich Roll. The actor talked about his career on the stage and his recent business ventures, but the topic of Spidey was invariably going to come up. To the surprise of fans everywhere, Holland had an update. He claimed that the story for the fourth film is getting increasingly closer to being done:
"It needs work but the writers are doing a great job. I read it 3 weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me."
Holland also stated that he and girlfriend/onscreen love interest, Zendaya were "bouncing around the living room" while reading it. This is reason enough to get excited, but the real head turner came when the actor was asked about the possibility of meeting another Spidey aka Miles Morales in the fourth film.
Holland wants to bring Miles Morales into the MCU
Holland said that he's hopeful Morales will eventually make his way into the MCU. He also stated that he wants his character to serve a mentor role for the fan favorite superhero. "I’d love to do for a young kid what Robert Downey Jr. did for me," he asserted.
The foundation has already been laid for Morales' introduction. The character's uncle, Aaron Davis, had a brief appearance in the first Holland film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, in 2017. Davis was played by Donald Glover, a fitting tribute given that Glover served as an inspiration for the Morales character back in 2011.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is going to be a tough act to follow with three different Spideys, but the introduction of Morales would certainly go a long way in drumming up excitement.
