Venom: The Last Dance parent guide: Violence and action factor into PG-13 rating

The Venom sequel turns up the heat in terms of action.

Venom is a fascinating film character. He's depicted in the comic books as an antihero and outright villain at times. His ferocity is meant to be a mirror image of the consciousness of Spider-Man, and as such, some fans were anticipating an R-Rated gorefest when the first film was released in 2018.

This has not been the case. None of the Venom films have been rated R, and the violence, while present, has been tamped down in the interest of appealing to as many moviegoers as possible. These are the definition of PG-13 films, in that they feature plenty of action and violence, but they never go too far in terms of graphicness or gore.

Venom: The Last Dance also contains strong language

This trend continues with Venom: The Last Dance. The third and allegedly final installment in the Sony franchise is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action. The MPA, which stands for the Motion Picture Association, has also pointed out that The Last Dance contains bloody images and some strong language.

Strong language in a PG-13 film typically means a few four letter words, and a single use of the f-word in a particularly dramatic moment. The "strength" of the language is relative, of course, especially if its compared to R-Rated titles. Deadpool vs Wolverine, for example, is an R-Rated superhero film that goes above and beyond in the violence and language department.

The violence is on par with the first two Venom films

We say all this to say, if you enjoyed the level of mayhem in the first two Venom films, then you will enjoy what you get with Venom: The Last Dance. The film may offer a different spin on the story, as Venom and Eddie Brock (both voiced/played by Tom Hardy) go on the run, but the feel is similar, and the fans will dig it.
