Netflix Tudum 2025 was a night filled with massive reveals, as some of Hollywood's biggest stars gathered in one place to celebrate the fandoms of the world's most beloved streaming service. This year, not only were fans privy to Wednesday themed dance numbers, adorable character reveals, and nostalgic behind-the-scenes looks of their favorite Netflix originals, but they also got to hear from the stars themselves as cast members from shows like Stranger Things and One Piece took over L.A.'s Kia Center to advocate for upcoming projects and drops in front of a live audience.

Although it was a great night for Netflix shows, the streaming service also previewed some heat on the movie side, too, giving us exclusive trailers and sneak peeks that had fans everywhere buzzing. These were by far the biggest movie announcements made during Netflix's live event, leaving subscribers around the world on the edge of their seats.

1. Guillermo del Toro announces 'Frankenstein': a movie 25 years in the making

Netflix Tudum was a great time for horror fans! Not only did we get an exclusive first look at Wednesday season 2 and major details for the final seasons of Stranger Things and Squid Game, but perhaps the biggest news of all was the official announcement of Guillermo del Toro's latest project: an adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic monster tale, Frankenstein. The Tudum audience was elated as stars Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, and director del Toro himself took turns revealing details about the passion project that Isaac described as a "dark, sumptuous, emotional drama character piece."

The reveal of the official teaser trailer previewed all the epic, gritty, gothic, dark fantasy elements that the Academy Award-winning director is known for. And with a cast that includes Christoph Waltz and Jacob Elordi—who plays the monster himself —we know this iconic monster story will be in good hands.

2. Adam Sandler finally drops the trailer for 'Happy Gilmore 2'

Adam Sandler's classic sports comedy Happy Gilmore is one of the best movies of his career, so when it was announced in 2024 that there would be a sequel nearly 30 years later, the anticipation was palpable. During Tudum 2025, Sandler finally gave fans the news they've been waiting for: the official release date and preview of the Netflix original comedy.

After a hilarious press-conference style bit with stars Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen (hosted by the legendary sportscaster Rich Eisen), viewers got an exclusive sneak peek at the official trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, and it did not disappoint. The trailer included all the beloved elements from the original film (rage-induced golf mayhem, hilarious all-star cameos, and most of the original cast reprising their roles), while also adding some refreshing new elements that aid in bridging the gap between old fans and new.

3. Ben Affleck and Matt Damn reunite in crime thriller 'The Rip'

At one point, Hollywood A-listers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were an inseparable duo thanks to their life-long friendship that spans back to their Boston roots as well as the critical acclaim they garnered from their collaboration in 1997's Good Will Hunting. Although the two frequently collaborated on screen in the Y2K era, these days their on-screen link-ups are more few and far between, which makes the announcement of their latest Netflix project, The Rip, all the more exciting.

The Rip, which also stars Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, and Kyle Chandler, will see Ben Affleck and Matt Damon join forces as co-stars for the first time since 2023's Air. The Netflix original police crime thriller examines the complexity of trust and begs the question, "how much would it take for you to betray your friends?"

4. Dun Dun Dun...'Knives Out' director Rian Johnson announces a new murder mystery

Tudum 2025 was a night filled with mystery and suspense, stunning Netflix viewers with surprising reveals and shocking news left and right. It should come as no surprise that the reigning visionary behind the streaming service's beloved murder mystery franchise would use this opportunity to stun audiences yet again with another addition to the Knives Out franchise. In one of the most creative cast reveals of the night, director Rian Johnson announced the release of his latest murder mystery film, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

Johnson was joined on stage by the star-studded cast of his new ensemble film, which included newcomers Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, and Josh Brolin as well as the return of Knives Out leading man, Daniel Craig. The announcement trailer for Wake Up Dead Man shows the brilliant master detective Benoit Blanc smack dab in the middle of yet another "who dun it" scenario: this time with a darker, sinister, more sacred twist.
