We shouldn't have to wait until 2026 to stream Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale at home.

The third and final movie in the Downton Abbey franchise is now out in theaters. Of course, many will want to wait until Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is available to stream at home.

There is some great news, as this is expected to hit streaming services before the end of the year. In fact, it could be much sooner than you would initially think theatrical releases will hit streaming. It won’t remain on its first streaming home for too long, though, due to a deal between Universal and Amazon.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale will head to Peacock first

As the third Downton Abbey movie is a Focus Features release, we’re looking at it heading to Peacock first. This is because Focus Features is owned by Universal, and NBCUniversal owns the movie studio and the Peacock streaming service. So, it makes sense for Focus Features movies to head to Peacock first.

In fact, in a press release about How to Train Your Dragon’s live-action reboot heading to Peacock, we did get confirmation that Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale would head to Peacock in 2025. So, we know that it should arrive before the end of the year.

We’re looking at as early as the middle of November for the release date. A lot of Focus Features movies have taken around two months to go from theaters to Peacock.

The Downton Abbey movie will then head to Prime Video

Universal and Amazon have a licensing deal. After the initial stream on Peacock, Amazon gets to stream Universal movies on its own platform in the “Pay 2 Window,” so we’re looking at Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale heading to Prime Video.

This is usually around four months after it heads to Peacock. In this case, we will be waiting until 2026 for it to head to Prime Video, likely around March. It’ll be worth the wait, and it’s not like we can’t watch it on Peacock first!

Downton Abbey fans will want to check out the movie as soon as possible, and in theaters is the best way. It’s a beautiful end to a story, but it leaves the franchise open for a revival, focusing on younger characters all grown up, if anyone decides they want to do that.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is likely to come to Peacock in November 2025, but it is currently out in theaters to enjoy.
