As predicted, Freakier Friday is heading to Disney+. The great news is that it will be the family movie to watch over Thanksgiving weekend, as the drop is with more than enough time to get your viewing list in order.
Freakier Friday is coming to Disney+ in November
When we first looked at predicting the date, we used the likes of Lilo & Stitch to get a rough idea. With that in mind, we weren’t expecting the Freaky Friday sequel to arrive until December.
Well, Disney+ is treating us just before Halloween with the news that the release date is earlier than expected. Get Wednesday, Nov. 12 in your diaries!
Yes, that is when Freakier Friday will come to Disney+, making sure it’s ready for your Thanksgiving viewing. It certainly makes sense considering families gather together at this time of year, and there is the push to watch family-friendly movies throughout the weekend. Not everyone wants to watch an animated release, and there are plenty of adults who pine for more of the Y2K classic movies.
What is the Freaky Friday sequel about?
Did you miss all the hype about the movie? Well, this sequel picks up about 20 years after the original one, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan back as Tess and Anna. Anna is now all grown up, with a daughter of her own. She’s also merging her family with her fiancé, which means there’s a soon-to-be stepdaughter coming into the house.
Of course, when families merge, it means trouble and compromise. Not everyone wants that, especially teenagers, as Anna should remember from her formative years. Tess certainly does, but that doesn’t make things easier.
So, when lightning strikes twice, the group of teens and adults need to navigate the lessons they need to learn so that they can switch back into their own bodies. You would think with Anna and Tess already going through this that they should know what to do, but have they really learned their lessons from the first time?
Freakier Friday is coming to Disney+ on Wednesday, Nov. 12, where it will stream exclusively.
