Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis teamed up once more to bring us the sequel we’d all been waiting for. Freakier Friday is a must for fans of the original Freaky Friday. The question is whether it’s any good for the kids.
Freakier Friday is set 20 years after the original movie, which is the time it’s taken to get this sequel. We pick up with Anna, who is now on the verge of combining families with her boyfriend. Of course, that leads to tension when it comes to putting two teenagers who don’t like each other in the same house.
Throw in Anna’s mom Tess, and you have a few more issues. Well, the fortune teller is back, and she’s ready with her mojo to cause people to switch bodies. Sometimes, you need to walk a mile in each other’s shoes.
Freakier Friday age rating: Explaining the PG rating
Officially, this Disney movie is rating PG, which means that it’s aimed for the whole family. That’s the standard age rating for a Disney movie, but is it appropriate? We break down everything that makes up the age rating, keeping it as spoiler-free as possible.
Sex & nudity: There is a scene where a character dances in a “sultry” way on a table, but it’s done in a comedic way. In fact, the end of the scene includes the like “You’re having a stroke!” to add to the comedy. While adults will certainly know what this is supposed to represent, the younger members of the family may not quite get it.
Violence & gore: There’s one scene with a food fight. There is also a scene that involves some reckless driving, which can be a little scary for younger audiences.
Language: Words and phrases like “Oh, my God” and “hell” are used throughout the movie. There is a use of p**s and the B-word, but there’s nothing stronger than that. Some people will still class bada*s as a swear word, so I will say that there are uses of that. It has become a more conventional and accepted phrase, though.
Alcohol & drugs: There are scenes with adults drinking at events or at home. Nothing is heavily shown, though.

Overall verdict: Who is Freakier Friday appropriate for?
This is going to be a movie for the teenagers in the house rather than the younger members of the family. It’s also one for the adults who adored Freaky Friday, and yes, it’s suitable for those ages.
While the PG rating does suggest that Freakier Friday good for seven and up, I don’t think this is going to be as entertaining for those younger ages as a traditional Disney movie. If you’re in doubt, put on Freaky Friday first and see their reaction, as much of the sequel is similar.
Freakier Friday is now out in theaters.
