Disney+ will release a handful of movies during the month of September 2025, and honestly, it's a great way to see what the streamer has to offer, or if you didn't get the chance to see something you wanted in the theaters. The movies also help provide variety for viewers, as they cater to different age groups.

Then, here's the added bonus of watching the selected film, or films, with family or friends, and having open conversations about them. I always thought that was a fun perk because you can share your vision on how the production could improve its material. It's just the natural approach of movie lore, and has been a concrete element since the industry began in the late 19th century. Social media and technology only accelerated the criticisms and the enjoyment.

We have some movies that we think that you might want to put on this month's watch list and one that should be considered. There is one release on Hulu rather than Disney+.

Lilo and Stitch

When to stream: Wednesday, Sept. 3

Lilo and Stitch is a pleasurable and warm adventure of a young girl and her alien/dog. Together, they discover the meaning of family, friendship, and a love that's unbreakable. For the older fans who first saw the original 2D animation in 2001, the live-action is a burst of nostalgia.

Those who are seeing Lilo and Stitch for the first time, they'll develop a sense of adventure and a love for the Hawaiian Islands. The animated version is also on Disney+ tostream afterward.

Lost in the Jungle

When to stream: Friday, Sept. 12

Lost in the Jungle chronicles the real-life survival story of four siblings under the age of 13 who had to survive in the deep Colombian rainforest after a plane crash. For 40 days, the kids band together as they fight against the natural elements, as the armed services conduct a thorough search.

You might have heard the story on the news in 2023, as the world was fascinated by the miraculous journey and the survivors' strength in never giving up their fight to live. Through interviews and commentary from the rescuers, as well as recreations of events, we'll have a better understanding of what really happened during those fateful days.

Swiped

When to stream: Thursday, Sept. 25

We love a movie when a woman gets to have a poignant and purposeful lead, Swiped is going to follow the life-changing career of Whitney Wolfe Herd, who founded two of the most well-known dating apps—Bumble and Tinder—and changed how people viewed the online relationship spectrum. Wolfe became one of the youngest female billionaires in history for her Bumble launch and work behind it.

This movie is heading to Hulu rather than specifically Disney+, but you can watch it with the Disney+ & Hulu bundle. With Hulu content soon combining in with Disney+ content in 2026, you'll be able to wathc it all in one place as long as you have the bundle.

Avoid: Marvel Zombies

When to stream: Wednesday, Sept. 24

Let me clarify that I love the Marvel Universe and its eclectic group of superheroes. Yet, Marvel Zombies just didn't cut it for me, and I'm one who dabbles in the horror genre. I couldn't get over the gore and violence, as well as some of my favorite characters turning into bloodthirsty figures of the undead. If it were the other way around, that the superheroes were battling the zombies, then I might have a change of heart.

I understand that Marvel Zombies is derived from an alternate universe take featured in 2021's What If TV series and a miniseries comprising four episodes. But piece them together, and it feels like a full feature.

Additionally, if you have young kids who are Marvel fans, it's best to steer them away from this installment and have them watch one of the live action ones instead.
