A24 has released three horror films in theaters in 2025, and only one of them is currently available to stream. That movie is Opus, starring Ayo Edebiri. The other two we're still waiting on to make their streaming debuts are Death of a Unicorn and Bring Her Back. Thankfully, the wait is almost over for Death of a Unicorn. We finally have a streaming release date. And the best part? It'll be available to watch at home sooner than you might think!

You don't even need to mark your calendar for this movie since it'll be making its way to a streaming platform tomorrow. Death of a Unicorn is set to be released on HBO Max on Friday, July 25, 2025. I'm sure you'll be able to find it front and center on the homepage the moment it drops.

A24 fans and horror lovers alike have been eagerly waiting for this one to hit streaming, especially with Jenna Ortega leading the cast. The film was released in theaters earlier this year, and although it received mixed reviews from critics, it fared much better with general audiences.

That said, most horror fans know that you can't always judge a horror movie by its critical reviews. Critics often judge the horror genre more harshly, and their reviews don’t always reflect the true quality or appeal of these films. Honestly, it's best to experience these movies for yourself and form your own opinion because what truly matters is how the film connects with you. Not just what others say. Who knows? You might watch Death of a Unicorn and find that it quickly becomes one of your all-time favorite horror films.

Death of a Unicorn is a horror comedy coming from Alex Scharfman. He wrote the screenplay as well as directed the film. Ortega stars in the movie as a teen girl named Ridley Kintner. Ridley decides to join her father, Elliot Kintner (Paul Rudd), on a weekend trip to his billionaire employer’s remote estate. But on their way there, they accidentally hit and kill a baby unicorn. Instead of calling for help, they decide to throw the unicorn in the trunk of their car and continue on their way. This is when things go left.

Elliot's boss discovers that the magical creature has miraculous medicinal properties, sparking a twisted scheme to exploit the unicorn for profit and power. But what he and the others don't know is that the unicorn's vengeful parents are on their way to get their revenge.

Besides Ortega and Rudd, the cast is made up of actors such as Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, Richard E. Grant, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Stephen Park, Jessica Hynes, and Kathryn Erbe.

After you finish watching Death of a Unicorn on HBO Max, we recommend checking out Opus next. It's streaming on this platform as well. Additionally, Bring Her Back is expected to be available on HBO Max in the near future. All three of these A24 horror films are also available for rent or purchase on digital platforms.
