When it comes to horror movies, M3GAN 2.0 is a great way to show how a continuation can work. It reminds us that while one thing seems scary, there are many other more dangerous ways to use technology out there. If you don’t understand the downsides and the repercussions, maybe you shouldn’t develop the technology in the first place!

The sequel to M3GAN sees the autonomous android get a glow-up. If you thought the original robot was dangerous, wait until you see this one. Now she has new upgrades but the same attitude, but this time, she’s going to use her abilities for good.

You see, it turns out that there’s another autonomous android engineered to be the ultimate weapon. When she threatens Cady, M3GAN needs to do what she can to protect her, and Gemma has no choice but to upgrade the AI diva.

M3GAN 2.0 is heading to Peacock in two versions

There’s some exciting news for those who have been waiting for M3GAN 2.0 to head to streaming. You’ll be able to watch it on Peacock on Friday, Sept. 26.

There’s not just the theatrical version heading there, either. There are two versions, bringing the unrated version, which has a lot more gore. The first movie had two versions, and they certainly worked well for those wanting to introduce their kids to horror and those wanting something a little scarier. So, it’s not surprising that the sequel is getting this unrated treatment.

This is just one of the Peacock releases happen in 2025. How to Train Your Dragon is coming in October, and in a press release from Peacock about M3Gan 2.0, we have Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale and Nobody 2 confirmed for 2025 releases. Oh yes, there’s The Bad Guys 2 for those who are looking for a family-friendly viewing event.

The dangers of AI in the real world

M3GAN 2.0 continues to show us the dangers of AI if it is allowed to go unchecked. After the events of the first movie, Gemma wants government oversight of artificial intelligence. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean safety. When a defense contractor creates Amelia, a new AI robot, things take a turn.

Amelia starts to gain a voice and mind of her own. She no longer wants to take orders, and that puts the whole world at risk. There’s little that can be done, except for Gemma to pull M3GAN out and create an upgraded version to hopefully stop the new AI.

M3GAN 2.0 is coming to Peacock on Friday, Sept. 26.
