Immaculate, from NEON and directed by Michael Mohan, is now available to stream on Hulu. What other great movies are streaming (and which should you skip)? We've got your back!

If you missed Immaculate when it premiered in theaters, now is your chance to check it out from the comfort of your own home. In fact, nowadays it is easier than ever to watch movies on a streamer instead of having to go to your local theater, which saves you both time and money. However, not all movies are worth watching. Below, we list four movies streaming on Hulu that you should check out the next time you want to enjoy a movie night-in, as well as two movies you can go ahead and hit the skip button on.

Movies to watch on Hulu right now

Immaculate

Release date: Premiered in theaters on March 22, 2024
Cast: Sydney Sweeney, Alvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Simona Tabasco

Synopsis: The story follows Cecilia (Sweeney), an American nun who moves to a town in Italy to continue devoting her life to her faith, living in a remote convent. It doesn’t take long after Cecilia's move for her to learn there are dark and sinister secrets that threaten her and everyone else around.

Watch this movie if: This is obviously not a movie you want to watch if you’re not a fan of horror, let’s start there. Immaculate is rated R for nudity, grisly images, language throughout, and strong violent content – so even if you are into the genre, these are some triggers to know about just in case. Watch Immaculate if you enjoyed Nun and The Omen.

KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
(L-R): Raka (played by Peter Macon), Noa (played by Owen Teague) , and Freya Allan as Nova in 20th Century Studios' KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Photo courtesy of 20th Century Studios. © 2024 20th Century Studios. All Rights Reserved.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Release date: Premiered in theaters on May 10, 2024
Cast: Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, William H. Macy, Peter Macon, and others.

Synopsis: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes continues to longrunning franchise and is the most intense chapter yet. The movie is set generations after Caesar’s reign. Apes are now the dominant species and humans are forced to hide.

Watch this movie if: If you’re not already a fan of the Planet of the Apes franchise, Kingdom is not the chapter you want to start with. This is definitely a movie to watch if you are familiar with the story and have seen previous chapters.

Poor Things

Release date: Poor Things premiered in theaters on Dec. 8, 2023
Cast: Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Christopher Abbott, Jerrod Carmichael, and others.

Synopsis: Bella Baxter is a young woman who was brought back to life after passing by Dr. Godwin Baxter, an unorthodox scientist. The experiment works, but Bella now needs to relearn everything. There are people in Bella’s life who want to help her and others who simply want to take advantage of the situation. But Bella is not as naive as she seems.

Watch this movie if: I’ll go ahead and warn you that this movie is not for everybody. It’s quirky, and a bit too much sometimes. But I guarantee you that there’s a beautiful story at its core. Poor Things is rated R, so there are a few triggers to keep in mind. The reason for the R rating is gore, disturbing material, nudity, language throughout, and strong sexual content. Watch this movie if you’re a fan of Emma Stone and sci-fi dramas.

No One Will Save You

Release date: Sept. 22, 2023 (Hulu Original Film)
Cast: Kaitlyn Dever, Geraldine Singer, Zack Duhame, and others.

Synopsis: The movie follows Brynn Adams (Dever) a young woman who has alienated herself from her community due to a series of phobias. There’s only one place Brynn feels safe, and that's surrounded by the walls of her home. But what happens when trouble comes knocking at Brynn's door?

Watch this movie if: No One Will Save You is for fans of horror, specifically those who enjoy aliens. The movie is only rated PG-13 for terror and violent content, but make no mistake, it’s still very spooky and full of suspense.

2 movies on Hulu to skip

To be fair, there aren’t too many movies streaming on Hulu that you need to avoid, but here are two we would never watch twice.

Freelance

Release date: Oct. 27, 2023
Cast: John Cena, Alison Brie, Juan Pablo Raba, and others

Synopsis: Mason Pettis (Cena) is a former special forces operative who now sits behind a desk. Missing the action, Pettis takes a freelance job. The gig? Work as a security guard for Claire Wellington (Brie), a journalist assigned a complicated job, to interview dictator Juan Venegas…in the middle of a dangerous jungle.

Why you should skip: This movie is the perfect example of one I would not watch twice, because I barely even made it the first time! I’m not a quitter, so I sat through the whole movie. Thankfully, at least, I watched it at home and not on the big screen. Don’t let the synopsis fool you. Freelance does not offer anything you haven’t already seen before. It’s not a great action movie, the gags and comedy are cheap, relying too much on the same formula as other John Cena movies, and the chemistry between the characters is nonexistent.

Prey

Release date: March 15, 2024
Cast:
Ryan Phillippe, Emile Hirsch, Mena Suvari, Dylan Flashner and others

Synopsis: A young couple portrayed by Phillippe and Suvari are on a Christian missionary trip when an extremist militant group attacks their post. They are able to escape with the help of a smuggler, but their small plane crashes, leaving them stranded with little resources and surrounded by lions and other wild creatures.

Why you should skip: On paper, this seems like a fun movie, doesn’t it? Well, please take my word for it. This is one of the most boring “adventures” you will ever go on. Because of a lack of talent from the cast, an awfully low budget, and poor storytelling, Prey is a huge fail.
