This week, it was announced that the leads for the new Legend of Zelda film had already been cast, but there's still one character many fans are waiting to see revealed. As Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason step into the roles of Link and Zelda, that leaves the villainous Ganon/Ganondorf waiting in the shadows.
For those not up to speed, the original villain for the Legend of Zelda series was the evil sorcerer, Ganon. Although the character later evolved into entities like Ganondorf and Dark Beast Ganon in later iterations of the game, it seems like Sony and director Wes Ball are taking a more traditional approach. So the question is, who will don the dark cloak of this evil wizard? Here are a few of our predictions.

Ralph Ineson (For a dark and sinister flavor)
Soon to hit theaters as the intimidating Galactus in Marvel's new Fantastic Four film, Ralph Ineson is easily this writer's top pick for a more classic-fantasy-inspired Ganon. With his experience in Robert Eggers' films, he knows how to toy with strange and sinister forces.
As Ganon, Ineson would easily embody the tropes of a dark wizard. Ineson's deep, gravely, and resounding voice perfectly embodies that "Demon King" aesthetic from the original Nintendo classic from the '80s. With the right amount of makeup and CGI, he'd be perfect for the role.

Doug Jones (A more practical approach)
If the filmmakers choose to go the full creature route, as depicted in many of Zelda's earlier titles, then they need an actor who can do wonders under a tremendous amount of makeup. Enter veteran creature actor Doug Jones, whose work in films like Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, and Crimson Peak makes him the perfect vessel for a more monstrous Ganon.
In many games, Ganon's form is that of a demonic boar creature. Without CGI, that's going to take a lot of special effects makeup to pull off. Given that Jones has essentially built his whole career on playing those types of roles, stepping into the robes and tusks of Ganon should be a walk in the park.

Jason Momoa (From Dothraki to Gerudo)
While perhaps not the top of some lists, Jason Momoa could certainly pull off a more Ganondorf-leaning portrayal than most. Having cut his teeth as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, playing the evil leader of the Gerudo in the kingdom of Hyrule shouldn't be a stretch for someone with his experience.
Fans should keep in mind that if Momoa is cast as the film's villain, his character is probably going to pull more from the later games that portray him as more of a warlord than a mystical minister of darkness. That said, Momoa as a muscular Ganondorf is sure to have the fangirls drooling.

Idris Elba (The best of both worlds)
While we're still hoping he could be our next James Bond, Idris Elba could easily embody elements from both Ganon and Ganondorf in any Zelda adaptation. He's had a hand in both fantasy films (the MCU's Heimdal) and video game movies (as Knuckles in the Sonic the Hedgehog series), so combining these talents only makes sense.
With his intimidating presence and ominous delivery, Elba could summon those dark magical energies that were the bane of many gamers. At the same time, his stature and appearance lend themselves very well to a more Gerudo approach. Essentially a combo of what Ineson and Momoa bring to the table, Idris Elba is a solid choice to bring the character to life for overall satisfaction.
The Legend of Zelda hits theaters in March 2027.
