Labor Day Weekend marks the last farewell of summer as kids transition from playgrounds to classrooms. It's also the last weekend of summer travel for families, and the last attempt to create some fond memories and spend time together before the busy life kicks back in.

If travel isn't on your Labor Day schedule or you need to even out the time spent from Point A to Point B, why not watch a movie to engage in an on-screen adventure with the kids and family? There are numerous options available across streaming services and DVDs. Yes, because DVDs are still very much a thing, and there's something so aesthetically enjoyable about popping one into the player.

Lilo and Stitch (2025)

Blu-Ray and DVD, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV

The live-action remake of the 2002 movie of the same name, Lilo & Stitch, was one of 2025's Box Office successes and a new legacy wave for Disney. Both films tell the heartwarming adventures of a young Hawaiian girl and her blue alien "dog," who has a love for Elvis Presley music and the Pacific Ocean. Stitch is also known to cause a little chaos and pranks, but that makes him all the more enduring.

Most importantly, Stitch learned the value and importance of family, or 'Ohana,' during his journey and time with Lilo. In return, Lilo learned that life doesn't have to be lonely as long as you have your loved ones.

Lilo and Stitch was released on DVD and Blu-Ray this week, with lots of new bonus content. It's available to stream across multiple platforms, but if you can wait, it will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

A Goofy Movie (1995)

Disney+

Every kid and preteen growing up in the 1990s would know A Goofy Movie, starring Goofy and his teenage son, Max. And if you're going on a road trip for the holiday, then the film would be the perfect travel companion. Moreover, the music is just as cool, as it's a combination styled after Prince and Michael Jackson, and sure enough, the kids (and you) will be singing along.

This year, A Goofy Movie turned 30 years old, continuing to bring the laughter to the OG fans and new ones alike.

The Hotel Transylvania franchise (2012-2022)

Tubi, Amazon Prime, Netflix

You don't have to wait until Halloween to enjoy the Hotel Transylvania franchise. Each movie follows Mavis, the 118-year-old-year-old daughter of Dracula and the adventures of her monster family and friends. Best of all, if you have young children, they will be more delighted than afraid of these smiling beings.

There are four movies in the franchise to check out, giving you plenty to watch over Labor Day Weekend.

Clueless Labor Day Weekend movies
Oct. 11, CLUELESS, 9:30-11:30 PM, ET/9:00-11:00 PM, PT CBS announces the return of the CBS SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIES on Oct. 4, with six fan-favorite films from the Paramount Pictures library, including three "back to school"-themed comedies, FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, OLD SCHOOL and CLUELESS; a thriller just in time for Halloween, SCREAM; an out-of-this-world action adventure, STAR TREK BEYOND; and a comedy to enjoy during Thanksgiving weekend, COMING TO AMERICA. The first five movies will air on

Clueless (1995)

Netflix, Paramount+, and Peacock

If you have teenagers, then Clueless is the perfect introduction to get them into romcoms. The film itself is iconic in pop culture for its fun fashion, friendships, and the coming-of-age storyline of the main character, Cher Horowitz, as she navigates high school and discovers the complexities of true love, despite calling herself a matchmaker.

And let's get real here: shopping online will never beat shopping at the malls. Clueless had plenty of it, which makes us even more nostalgic for those centers.

Freakier Friday (2025)

In theaters

If you're doing a stay-cation this weekend, with your only trips being errands, then heading to the theater might be a great option. As such, Freakier Friday—the follow-up to the 2003 Freaky Friday—is still making its rounds. And yes, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis will return as their characters Anna and Tess, as the former prepares for her wedding.

It's definitely a fun and energetic comedy with lots of family dynamics to sort through and enjoy. Plus, Freakier Friday brings us back to the early Y2K era, which was instrumental in entertainment.
